Some of the fees are waived in certain situations - such as the balance reloading fee that is waived when the funds from a cashed check are applied directly to the card. Special promotions offered by Walmart often result in fees being waived for a certain amount of time.

There is no credit check required for this card because there is no credit extended. Another unique feature of this card is that you can also sign up for bill pay using the Walmart Prepaid . Utilities, rent payments and any other recurring obligations can be paid through this card.

This card is designed to be a convenient product for customers who do not have bank accounts at traditional financial institutions. With this prepaid Visa card there is no need for a bank account to conduct simple transactions such as cashing a payroll check or having payroll directly deposited for easy access. Cardholders can request that employers directly deposit payroll onto the card, making it easy to access the funds without going through the actions of cashing a check.

MoneyPak by Greendot is another prepaid money card, but you can add funds to your Walmart Prepaid card with funds from MoneyPak if you also have the MoneyPak prepaid card. There are fees associated with this transaction, but the fees vary.

This is a valuable feature for cardholders who do not have a bank account. Parent should also remember to request that physicians send prescriptions to Walmart, Target or Kroger pharmacies. Many maintenance drugs, antibiotics, prescription pain relievers, and topical treatments are available for $4 for 30-day and $10 for 90-day supplies. Vitamins and Prenatal vitamins cost only $4/$10 also. Here are lists of drugs covered by Kroger, Target and Walmart prescription drug programs:

-Smoking Cessation: Bupropion MG SR, generic equivalent of Wellbutrin and Zyban, is available for $9 for a 17-day supply. Bupropion is an anti-depressant used in smoking cessation and Seasonal Affective Disorder treatments. Asthma sufferers will be relieved to note that Albuterol and ReliOn/Ventolin HFA Inhaler (8 mg./60 puff) is available under the new $9 prescription drug program.

-Women’s Health: $9 generic equivalent prescription birth control and infertility drugs include: Tamoxifen (Novladex) 10 mg and 20 mg, Clomiphene (Clomid), Sprintec and Tri-Sprintec (thinyl estradiol and norgestimate ) birth control are all available. Alendronate SOD (Fosamax) 35 mg and 70 mg, used for osteoporosis, is on the $9/$24 prescription list also.

-Men’s Health: Levitra (Vardenafil) is the generic equivalent prescription drug used to treat impotence and erectile dysfunction. Levitra is available at Target and Walmart for $9 per tablet. 10 tablets per month may be purchased. Levitra sells for $67.50 for four tablets. Target and Walmart also carry $9 prescription Finasteride (Proscar), used to treat prostate problems in men.

The $4/$10 prescription drugs list at each store carries over 300 different drugs. $4/$10 prescriptions are available for heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol, eye problems, ear problems, anti-fungal treatments, antidepressants, anti-anxiety, antipsychotic, seizures and epilepsy, men’s health, women’s health, antibiotics, skin conditions, arthritis, thyroid, viruses, allergies and other conditions.

Lists of prescriptions available at each store vary slightly. Kroger does not yet carry the $9 monthly prescriptions drugs. Each store categorizes drugs a little differently. Kroger organizes alphabetically, Target organizes alphabetically by condition and Walmart has both options. Condition names differ too. Walmart groups antidepressants and SSRIs under “Mental Health,” while Target breaks prescription drugs down by “antidepressant,” “anti-psychotic” and “anti-anxiety.”

Walmart sells generic prescription drugs for $4 for 30 days and $10 for three months, and now Kroger and Target also carry them. Walmart and Target also have $9 (30-day) and $24 (3-month) generic prescriptions for Wellbutrin, Levitra, Clomid, Sprintec, Tamoxifen, asthma inhalers and several other expensive prescriptions.
